Mikhail Gabov, a participant in protests against the construction of a landfill at the Shies station in the Arkhangelsk region, has become a defendant in a criminal case of assault.
As the defendant's lawyer, Alexei Kuroptev, told MBKh Media, the case was opened on the events of June 4, when nine protesters were detained at the training ground after clashes with riot police. Gabov is accused of intentionally spraying pepper spray towards a private security company employee guarding the garbage dump.
Gabov is under a written undertaking not to leave the country. Article 116 of the Criminal Code ("battery") is punishable by up to two years' imprisonment.
