
The heart failure became, according to preliminary data, the cause of the death of an Irish tourist on Elbrus, TASS reports with reference to the EMERCOM Office for Kabardino-Balkaria.
As of 18:20 in Moscow on June 30, search and rescue work on Mount Elbrus was completed, rescuers found tourists at an altitude of 5.2 thousand meters. At 17:50, when the descent of tourists at an altitude of 3.5 thousand meters, a tourist from Ireland born in 1979 died, presumably from heart failure.
"Rescuers lowered the body of the climber to the village of Terskol and handed over to the investigative -operational group of law enforcement agencies, the rest of the group were taken to the Azau Polyana, they do not need medical care," the report said.
Seven employees of the Elbrus-Vygorogornoye search and rescue detachment of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies were involved in the search and rescue operation. As TASS explained by the deputy chief of the detachment Albert Khadzhiev, tourists were registered with rescuers.
"A group of Irish (according to the updated data, there were five people) went to the top on the north side of Elbrus and was registered in the North Caucasus search and rescue detachment. They spent about two days on the Elburs saddle, the route was supposed to be completed on July 1 by the descent to the Azau glade," Khadzhiev said.
At 13:30 on June 30, six Irish and four Russians requested the help of rescuers on Elbrus at an altitude of about 5.2 thousand meters above sea level. The cause of the abnormal situation was bad weather.
The Russian group of tourists climbed the mountain from the north side and due to poor visibility, confusing the route, began to descend along the southern slope. On the way, they met with the Irish group and asked for help together.
