Kaspersky VPN service began to block prohibited sites

VPN service from Kaspersky Lab Secure Connection began to block sites included by Roskomnadzor (RKN) in the register of prohibited sites. It became the only VPN service that began to cooperate with the Russian agency.

• Roskomsvoboda reported with reference to subscribers that when trying to open a prohibited site through Kaspersky VPN, a message was displayed that the resource did not exist.
• In some cases, the service referred to Federal Law 149-FZ (On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection). This page also contained a link to the RKN website with a list of prohibited sites.

Quote. “Recently, the website blocking policy has been changed. Our product, distributed on the territory of the Russian Federation, fully complies and will comply with the regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation. If a resource is blocked at the regional level, when using Secure Connection it will also be blocked,” says the response from the support service.

• In March, RKN sent 10 VPN services a requirement to connect to a unified system so that prohibited resources are blocked automatically. Except for Secure Connection, they are all foreign. Read more here .
