In the Motygin Drama Theater, actors do not give flowers and never play performances on Saturday. But this only professional rural theater in Russia was born from great love and changed the life of the whole village
In the village of Motygino, in the northeast of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, gold, antimony, iron, and stone coal are mined. Severe shifters, frosts at 50 degrees to get here from the regional center, you need to overcome 500 kilometers and three full -flowing rivers: Yenisei, Taseev and Angaru. I went to Motygino to go to the theater.
Vova, Eric and Maria before the performance photo: Anton Klimov for TDI drove by bus at 7:00. The ticket indicated the time of arrival - 14:00. At 11:00, the bus rolled to the first crossing, through the Yenisei. “We leave,” the driver ordered. First, the bus drove onto the ferry, then passengers entered. After 15 minutes we were on the other side. Soon the second crossing, through Taseeva (the left tributary of the hangar, no less than the Yenisei), then through the Angara.
"Slow down on Angarsk bumps?" - one of my fellow travelers asked. Symbolic. Then the engraving began - and the bus, crossing, jumped over the bumps and pits. We drove up to the village at about five in the evening. As it turned out later, I was still lucky.
On the phone, we agreed with Tatyana Tkachuk, the director of the Motygin Theater, that we will meet on Sunday morning. But I could not resist and went to the theater right from the bus.
The village stretched along the hangar in a long street. On the right hand of the river, on the left - neat houses, smoke stretches from the pipes - stoves and baths are heaving. The air is cold, tasty, fresh. Where the theater, everyone knows.
“And what, is the performance today? - the saleswoman in the pavilion was surprised. “Out there left and right on the way.”
“On foot is not far, but let me take it,” the taxi driver suggested, noticing me, confused, on the street.
Cozy gray-blue house with a red roof on the shore of the Angara. In it in large letters, the word unusual for the village landscape: "Theater". In front of him is a stand with posters: “On Sunday, May 12, the play“ go and not return ”will be held, beginning at 17:00.” I push the door - locked. I go on the right - the service entrance is open.
“And today is a day off, Saturday, come tomorrow,” the guard answers.

Before the play “go and not return” photo: Anton Klimov for TDThe next day, the doors to the theater are wide open. A pretty woman washes in the lobby. “Are you to the director? She is at the rehearsal of “Tales”, let's go spend. ”
It is dark in the auditorium. I sit down on the side.
“Mole, be more attentive! Hare, already your way out. Squirrel, protein, where is the protein? " - "Yes, here I, with a tail, decided." Strict directorial: “gathered”, “no, again”, “Yes, give the same music!”
And around me velvet chairs smells of wooden floors, fabrics, a little dust, damp, powder and something else old, as it smells only in the theater.
A break, light lights up, Tatyana Tkachuk waves to me: "Let's go upstairs." We climb a narrow wooden staircase in a small room-bush room-here, probably, they drink tea, on the right sound engineering, right the director’s office.
- We built the office ourselves - we expand, there is not enough space.
- Tatyana Vasilievna, where is the theater in such a place?
-In the early 1930s, the Politzaeza began to exile in the Pireysky district (called so until 1956). This was the first wave of repression, mainly the intelligentsia was brought. In Motygin, then there were no more than 50 yards and 300 people. And this intelligentsia organized the People’s Theater with the House of Culture, amateur actors played in it.
Motygino, Angara River Photo: Anton Klimov for TDAnd in 1993, the local nugget Anatoly Ivanovich Bykov decided to create a professional theater on his basis. He graduated from the Kemerovo Institute of Arts, wrote poems, scripts for performances, taught young actors of stage speech, plastic. He was surprising, a real master, people followed him. In the House of Culture, the troupe huddled in a small room: the audience sat on the balcony, and the action took place below. And Bykov agreed with the head of the district administration to be handed over to the Building Club "Geologist". Since then, the theater has been living here. On their own, Anatoly Ivanovich with the actors turned a grand repair. They themselves painted sketches of the lobby, scenes, wardrobe, as they see it, and after implementing it. They built it in the afternoon, and in the evening was rehearsed. In April 1994, the theater has already released its first performance. All we have now is thanks to Bykov and his team.
Director Tatyana Tkachuk mentioned her personal history only casually. But it was difficult not to notice, not to read between the lines. She came to the theater as chief accountant in 1994. With Anatoly Bykov, they were then familiar completely superficially. At work I had to get to know closer. His indefatigable energy and love for the theater were instantly transmitted to the young accountant. Bykov worked for days, and with him the whole team forgot about the house, families, weekends. Tatyana Vasilievna lived theater. Then I realized that this is something more.
It all started with one phrase. Once Bykov called her home-to clarify about some papers. Then there was no office for the accountant, and Tatyana had to work at home. They talked, at the end, she, as usual, asked:
- You don't need me anymore?
- Not yet, but in the future yes.

The play "go and not return" photo: Anton Klimov for TDFrom that moment on, the conversations became different - soon Tatyana and Anatoly Ivanovich began to live together. And five years later, Anatoly Ivanovich left for the Urals and created the theater there. Tatyana was not a shame for herself, but for the matter, and the guys from the troupe were very worried.
And then Tatyana was reduced. She returned to the theater only in 2007 to the post of director. And already in 2009, I invited Bykov in Motygino to stage a performance. Others did not understand: how so? But the past was no longer important: Anatoly Ivanovich worked all the same for days, he could stay in the theater at night, and in the morning to inform the director that he hired two new actors who he needed for the performance for the performance.
Now the creator of the Motygin Theater is teaching at the Minusinsk College of Culture and Art, they are constantly calling the director, Anatoly Ivanovich is interested in whether the actors are needed to the theater, gives recommendations, comes to visit: his parents are buried here.
- It so happened that from the first composition, many guys tragically passed away young. The troupe had to be recruited again, ”says Tatyana Vasilievna. - But now the turnover is large, for a long time the actors do not linger. Sometimes we collect completely spontaneously. For example, sound engineer Alexander Yeremeyev invited his brother Sergei - we urgently needed a guy for a male role. Sergei became both the actor and the head of the artistic and delivery unit. Another actor called Masha’s sister - remember the squirrel at the rehearsal? Masha and Sergey got married, we have three Yeremeyevs, a whole dynasty. Now there are 11 actors in the troupe. With secondary special education, seven people, with the highest three. Volodya Zaitsev, who was now in the world, in the evening plays the main role in the play.
Tatyana Vasilievna, Director of theater photo: Anton Klimov for TD- Content, salary, all this requires funds?
- The salary of the actors is small. We are financed by the budget of the district. Of course, everything is not enough for everything. In 2016, we were repaired the scene, the auditorium and the attic. In 2017, they wanted to put in order the lobby and the dressing room-it did not work. We make the current repair ourselves, bring the materials from the house.
The actors run to the director every now and then: to say hello, hug, ask, clarify. Continuing the conversation, we go on a tour of the theater. Everyone does something: buzzing a drill, a saw works-such a restless tower.
“And this is our portrait of Stanislavsky, Bykov was redrawn from the portrait of Lenin,” Tatyana Vasilievna shows.
- Exactly, only Ilyich's eyes remained.

Behind the red curtain, a narrow dressing room. There is a large mirror in the entire length, several chairs, on the table of color, jars, bottles. A pretty girl carefully removes wrinkles on her forehead with a brush. Somewhere I have already seen her.
- How does your theater differ from the big one?
- We are all busy here and always. At the Bolshoi Theater, actors have been sitting on the same role for years, go on stage once a month. And we had one performance, they showed it seven times from force - and all, we remove, we won’t collect the auditorium anymore. We put up to nine performances per year. This is a lot. We can rehearse one performance in the morning, show another in the evening, and then drive the third. But the experience is so excellent.
Nikolai after a working day in the theater photo: Anton Klimov for TD- Today is Sunday, you are at work in the morning. And when are you relaxing?
- On Saturday. We have a bath day, it is pointless to give performances - the viewer will not come, this is holy.
In January, director Dmitry Turkov from St. Petersburg came to the theater as an artistic director. Together with him Nikolai Gorlov is an actor, a musician and a vocal teacher. Dmitry has his own view of the local viewer and what he would like to do here.

Great Exodus, director Boris Pavlovich and students of the Center “Anton here nearby” build theatrical utopia in the middle of a raw, uncontrollable St. Petersburg life“When Peter Brook was asked what needs to become a director, he replied:“ Buy a ticket and go on a trip around the world. ” In fact, I did so. I came to distant land and watch people. Having a theater in such a place is a dream. You go out in the evening - and you can go crazy from the air: river, sunsets. Here is a unique environment, it is easier to experiment here. The theater is one of a kind not only in geography, but also in the influence of this area. People who come here, in general, have nowhere to take their souls. The theater gives them the opportunity to exhale. For them, this is something very serious! This bribes. I have such a hot and sincere desire to pump this area, expand the circle of spectators, work more actively with youth! Yes, probably, we are not enough professionalism, but there are more opportunities and the total effect of work is better than if we arrive, for example, to a ready -made professional theater in a large city. ”
In my opinion, not only Dmitry is trying to change something here, but this place changes him. He becomes his village, unlike the director from St. Petersburg.

Dmitry and Nikolai rest after a working day photo: Anton Klimov for TD“The first impression was cool, crazy beauty. We began to engage in vocal training. We dream that they sang in Motygin! - Gorlov picks up. - The locals are proud of their theater, they tell visitors about him first. But there are very funny ones. The granny alone at the bus stop somehow reported me: “From the theater, what? I know all of them, they do not want to do nothing. I work in the hospital as a cleaner, I saw everyone. ”
Prior to the start of the performance, the excitement in the theater is growing. In order not to interfere, I am looking for unoccupied actors. A girl with a black scythe - Daria Miller, from Barnaul, arrived in Motygino in 2016 with one small suitcase.

Teacher's life: obsession, gulag, cosmos of the true story of the teacher Adrian Toporova, who, a hundred years ago, together with the Altai peasants, created the literary commune "May Morning"“Even on the Internet I did not look where it is. I drove and thought: when this road will end. The first time was unusual: here the water is transported to the homes, there is no water supply. But the people are very kind. Immediately brought me lecho, jam, lard. On the bus, the women turn: “Thank you, Dasha, for the performance.” And all the time they ask to put more comedies. There is enough drama in life. But it’s a shame - they don’t give flowers. Not accepted here, and that’s it. We once went to the neighboring village on tour. The audience there brought us a bouquet from the garden, wrapped with an old cellophane. It was so nice! "
Dasha escorts me over the theater. A room with an ironing board, from it the door to the dressing room. Mistress Nina Baldushevskaya.
- With such a surname only an actress is!
- And I was in my youth. We all went to the stage, even a manager. I generally dreamed of playing the theater as a girl, but learned to sew, worked in the city studio. I got here 24 years ago as a costumeman. Then we had a director who forced everyone in the morning to walk: it doesn’t matter whether you, an accountant or director - all kneaded. And he once says to me: "You will play." I was scared: "No, I came to sew." And there still had to be beaten. He did not calm down: "The bears are taught, and you will learn." And so from morning till night I began to beat this step. And it happened!
Nina Fedorovna, costumer photo: Anton Klimov for TDThe lobby is gradually filled. Grandmother with a granddaughter of about nine: "We are the first time, we have been living here all our lives, but we were not in the theater." A woman with a crowd of teenagers, Rimma Kirillova, the school principal and a historian from the neighboring village of Otdolinsk, brought her students. A man in an ironed shirt with long sleeves - it is clear that he is embarrassed in such clothes. "Sergey, the driver of the timber truck, here the daughter persuaded to go, she already saw the production, she liked it." Teenagers chirp at the buffet rack. Rimma Vladimirovna says that he is trying not to miss new productions: “The theater here is, of course, a miracle, although we are used to it. But every time we plunge into a fairy tale, and we go after that. ”
The people continue to pull up to the porch. Tickets here can be ordered by phone, and then redeemed on the spot - for 200 rubles, this is without an intermission, with an intermission - 350. Today there will be no anthrax.
In the auditorium, everyone sat in a couple of minutes and froze. About a third of the free places-almost all the Motygins “go and not return” have already looked, today they came the second time or with someone for the company. This is the last show, they will not go on the stage anymore.
Tatyana Tkachuk calls Lena Zolotarev a local nugget, an asterisk and is afraid to lose - the actress has repeatedly received tempting proposals. She is really in the theater since childhood. Today, the metropolitan directors, having worked with her, punish: "To protect Lena, there are no such people in Moscow." There is something amazing in it, she could be born only on the shores of the Angara and be only in this theater. They are as if created for each other. “My tower,” she affectionately calls him.
Lena and Dasha on the shore of the hangars photo: Anton Klimov for TD
Motygino photo: Anton Klimov for TDI got to talk with Lena Zolotareva only the next day. On Monday morning, silence and emptiness in the theater. Lena has the first day of vacation, soon a trip to Moscow, to the International Summer School of STD, where she herself submitted an application and passed the competition.
“Mom gave birth to me early, so we are rather sisters, and I often call my grandmother a mother. I live with her and grandfather, it was they who put it in me the most. Grandfather was a foreman, the forest was falling. All my childhood I joined on the street. And in high school, literature and especially poems became interesting to me. Once my grandmother brought a volume of Yesenin home home. And I disappeared, everywhere his poems told, even Yesenin’s granddaughter began to call me. ”
The fact that the theater was recruiting girls in a children's studio, Lena learned from her girlfriends and went to record herself. Mom then worked in the theater as a cleaner (this is how Lenin’s face was familiar to me, it was her mother who met me on Sunday in the morning), but she didn’t say anything to her daughter: she thought this was not serious.
She came and from the threshold stated that she was Olga Zolotareva's daughter. They laughed at her, but took it. Then the studio broke up, and Lena continued to go to the theater. She was all the time to be home to do lessons, and she was hiding in dressing rooms and did not go into any.
“After school, there were thoughts to go to study the actress, but, as it often happens, girlfriends gathered in Krasnoyarsk, to economists, and I am for the company. I did not go to the budget, I entered paid in the technical school of computer science and computer technology. I did not study long. I remember, accounting is coming, I giggle, the teacher pulled me, and I blurted out:
- Maybe I want to become an actress!
“Well, that means you don’t have a place here.”
After I call my grandmother in tears: “Take me from here.” She arrived the next day. I went home happy: I’m a patriot, I really love my village, I can’t breathe in other places. ”

At the rehearsal of the play "Brave Hare" photo: Anton Klimov for TDIn Motygin, Lena got a job at the Youth Center, was afraid to look towards the theater, and cried at night that they again took some kind of actress, not her. But soon she was invited by the then director Kirill Levshin, and after the premiere Lena was already hired. The dream came true.
