$5 million in the garden: an FSB general was kidnapped, robbed, the money was found and confiscated

The Main Investigation Department of the ICR has completed the investigation of an unusual criminal case on the abduction of FSB General Alexander Pastushkov. Two intruders kidnapped Pastushkov and, torturing him, forced him to show him places on the plot in an elite cottage settlement, where he buried plastic containers with $5 million, writes Kommersant . During the investigation, the ICR seized more than $1.1 million from the general’s safe, which they turned into state revenue at the suit of prosecutors.

Now the defendants claim that they did not participate either in the kidnapping of the general or extortion of money, while Pastushkov himself denies that the attackers found any valuables on his site. According to his version, the kidnappers confused him with one of the wealthy neighbors.

Abduction. Alexander Pastushkov is the former first deputy head of the capital construction department (UKS) of the FSB's support service. At the end of May 2018, Major General Pastushkov was kidnapped by two unemployed people. They were charged with kidnapping and extortion (Article 125 and Article 163 of the Criminal Code). Now the defendants are getting acquainted with the materials of the case of 14 volumes, which will first go to the Prosecutor General's Office for approval, and after that - to the court.

• The kidnappers found out that Pastushkov could keep a large amount of money in his country house, and they put him under surveillance, it follows from the case file. After the general drove his daughter to her house, they dragged the retiree into a car and took him to the town of Vidnoye, near Moscow, where they rented a semi-abandoned private house. There he was tortured with a stun gun, demanding to know where he hides the money.
• After being tortured, Pastushkov agreed to show the places where he had buried a large sum of money. All three went to an elite cottage village in the village of Mladenovo in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region, where Pastushkov lived. At the site, the attackers dug up seven plastic containers, in which there was a total of $ 5 million in different currencies. Together with the general, they returned to Vidnoye, and then took Pastushkov to the Ramensky district.
• Pastushkov was helped to escape by the passengers of one of the passing cars, the driver of which took him to the hospital. Doctors reported the victim to the police, who forwarded information about him to the Investigative Committee. The Investigative Committee managed to initiate and start investigating a criminal case on the murder (Article 105 of the Criminal Code) of Pastushkov.
• The thieves were apprehended fairly quickly. About 200 million rubles in various currencies were confiscated from their cars. They managed to spend the rest of the money on new cars, restaurants and girls. The money arrested in the case will most likely also be turned into state revenue.

An interesting detail. At the initial stage of the investigation, both defendants admitted their guilt, but then they refused to testify and, referring to Article 51 of the Constitution, refused to communicate with the investigator at all. Now the attackers claim that they did not participate either in the kidnapping of the general or in extorting money from him.

Pastushkov himself also claims that he was the victim of the kidnappers by mistake, they confused him with one of the wealthy neighbors. The attackers did not find any valuables on his site, the general adds.
