In Chelyabinsk, participants in the 2018 “He is not our king” protest are summoned for questioning by the Investigative Committee

In Chelyabinsk, participants in the “He is not our king” protest, which took place on May 5, 2018, were summoned for questioning by the Investigative Committee. This was reported on the website of Navalny’s local headquarters.

So far, three summonses for interrogation are known. According to published documents, all three people were asked to come to the Investigative Committee on July 4 “to give an explanation regarding the fact of being delivered to the Sovetsky police department on May 5, 2018.” The names of two men who received summonses are known: Ilya Nosov and Timofey Popov. The third person summoned is under 18 years of age. The documents do not indicate for what case and in what capacity the detainees were summoned on May 5.

After the action in Chelyabinsk, a criminal case was opened on hooliganism committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code). There is at least one accused in the case - Oksana Eremina - and several suspects: Yuri Vashurin, Mikhail Takhirov, I. Tyshchenko.

According to investigators, Eremina, Vashurin, Takhirov, Tyshchenko and other “unidentified persons” during the action “grossly violated public order, expressing clear disrespect for society, motivated by political hatred and enmity, associated with resistance to a representative of the authorities.” OVD-Info does not know whether the court chose any preventive measure for any of those listed.

A friend of Navalny’s headquarters, Yuri Vashurin, told OVD-Info about the search of Navalny’s headquarters volunteer: “As I understand it, they have photographs or screenshots on their hands, from which they identify the people who stood in a line in front of the police cordon.”

• Participants in the “He is not our king” protest opposed Vladimir Putin’s new presidential term. According to OVD-Info, on May 5, 2018, at least 185 people were detained in Chelyabinsk, and at least 1,600 throughout Russia.
