The government of the Irkutsk region will conduct its own inspection of the mayor of the Nizhneudinsky district Sergei Khudonogov, reports Interfax citing the press service. Based on its results, the regional governor Sergei Levchenko will make a decision.

The basis for the inspection was the demand of Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko to fire Khudonogov for using public services to restore his house after the flood. A video showing Khudonogov’s yard with special equipment was posted on social networks by a local resident. Mutko’s press service reported that the inspection confirmed the mayor’s use of special equipment for personal purposes.

At the end of June, floods began in the Irkutsk region caused by heavy rains. They affected more than 100 settlements; more than 10,000 residential buildings, in which almost 33,000 people lived, were destroyed by water. 49 socially significant objects were flooded, 22 road bridges and 48 road sections were damaged.

According to the latest data, 22 people were killed, another 13 are missing, and several hundred were injured. President Vladimir Putin declared the flooding in the Irkutsk region a federal emergency.
