In Ingushetia, a participant in protests against the redivision of the border with Chechnya was sent to a pre-trial detention center

The Nalchik city court placed Zarifa Sautiyeva, a participant in protests against the redistribution of the border with Chechnya, in a pre-trial detention center until September 11. This is reported by "Caucasian Knot".

The woman is suspected of complicity in the use of violence against government officials (part 3 of article 33 and part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) during protests. According to the "Caucasian Knot", Sautiyeva's defense insisted on attaching a video recording of the rally to the case file. It should show that the woman did not call for violence, but, on the contrary, asked the protesters “not to throw chairs” at the security forces.

Lawyer Bilan Dzugaev told Fortanga. ORG” that Sautiyeva has a disability of the second group. According to him, a month ago, the activist needed to extend it, but she did not have time to do this before the detention.

In April Sautieva was fined 20,000 rubles for taking part in the protests. Prior to that, she was fired from the post of deputy director for research at the Memorial Complex for the Victims of Repression, but the court recognized this decision as illegal and reinstated the woman at work.

The Ingush branch of Yabloko, the Support of Ingushetia movement and the Patriotic Union of Women of Ingushetia believe that the persecution of Sautiyeva is connected with her civic position.

In September 2018, the authorities of Ingushetia and Chechnya signed an agreement to change the border between the republics, after which protests began in Ingushetia.
On March 26, about 10,000 people came out to a rally in Magas. About two thousand protesters remained on the square all night. In the morning they began to be dispersed, as a result of which clashes broke out between the security forces and the protesters .
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on incitement to mass riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence dangerous to life and health against law enforcement officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). It already has at least 31 defendants, at least 27 suspects and defendants are in custody.
