17:20 Lawyer Sergei Badamshin wrote in his telegram channel a refutation of information about the initiation of a criminal case.
“I was at the Investigative Committee today in the case of Ivan Golunov. The criminal case initiated against Golunov (later the prosecution of Ivan in the framework of this case was discontinued) is being investigated by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. As part of the same case, investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident. There are no new criminal cases filed. No one has been charged,” the lawyer said.
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under the article on abuse of power (Article 286 of the Criminal Code) against the police officers who participated in the arrest of Ivan Golunov. This was reported by Meduza with reference to an unnamed source.
It is not yet known how many people are suspects in this case.
According to information published in the Baza telegram channel, one of the suspects is the head of the drug control department of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Moscow Closed Administrative District, Andrei Shchirov. The defendants in the case were given a written undertaking not to leave the place.
Lawyer of “Human Rights Postcard” Sergei Badamshin, who represents Golunov, said in his telegram channel that the notification from the Investigative Committee has not yet been received, but they have already been invited there.
