Paul McCartney took up the first musical in his career based on his beloved Christmas film of Americans

Paul McCartney confirmed that he began to work on the musical based on the famous film by Frank Kapra “This Wonderful Life” (“It” S A Wonderful Life). As reported on the official website of the 77-year-old musician, this will be the first musical in his career.

It is reported that McCartney will become the author of music and co -author of song texts, along with the screenwriter of the musical Bayopic "Roketman" and the tape "Billy Elliot" Lee Hall. Hall will also write a musical libretto.

The producer of the production will be the British theater impresario Bill Kenrait. According to McCartney, Kenrait bought the rights to production and met him three years ago, offering to write music. Work on musicals had never seemed attractive to the composer before, but after a conversation with Hall and Kenrait, McCartney became interested in the project and began work on songs during the next world tour. It is assumed that the premiere of the musical will take place at the end of 2020.

The film “This Wonderful Life” was shot based on Philip Van Doren Stern “The Greatest Gift” in 1946. The protagonist of the picture George Bailey was tired and disappointed in life and wants to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. However, he is saved by a guardian angel showing him a world in which George Bailey never was born. This production will be the third scenic version of the Kapora movie.
