The US prosecutor’s office withdrew charges against actor Kevin Spacey, who was accused of sexual harassment, and closed this case.
According to the American media, during a court session in Nantakette (Massachusetts), it became known that the charges were withdrawn due to the lack of access to the evidence on which the charges were built, as well as the inaccessibility of the testimonies of the alleged victim.
According to CBS , the reason for such a decision was the lack of a mobile phone in the case file, with the help of which 21-year-old William Little, who accused the American actor of sexual harassment, supposedly exchanged the details of the incident with his girlfriend.
Earlier, the prosecution provided Spacey lawyers allegedly received from the specified smartphone, however, representatives of the actor’s defense insisted that they have the right to personally study the phone. In their opinion, recordings could be removed from his memory that would confirm the innocence of Spacey. At the same time, Little and his family members claimed that the phone was lost, so it is impossible to provide it for examination.
The phone and messages sent to the young man to his girlfriend and friends in 2016 right in those few minutes when harassment allegedly took place, were the main evidence in this matter. But the defense claimed that the mother of the young man Heather UNRA, who filed a lawsuit before transferring the police apparatus, removed part of the contents, which could give a more clear idea of his hobbies. According to Spacey’s lawyers, this can be regarded as the destruction of evidence.
Little's parents admitted that some photographs related to their son’s student life were deleted. But, claiming that now the phone has disappeared, they say that this happened through the fault of the police. In turn, the police assure that they handed the apparatus to Father Little. And he, testing in court, said that he did not remember this.
The young man himself, who first said that he personally did not remove anything from his smartphone, then decided to take advantage of the fifth correction to the US Constitution, which gives citizens the right not to testify against himself. For this reason, the testimonies of the young Little on the content of the records in the smartphone were generally completely removed from the case file by the decision of the judge.
Then the defense of Kevin Spacey and demanded to reject the lawsuit against the actor with the accusation of harassment on the basis of the plaintiff’s refusal to answer questions about the main evidence - his phone. SPAYSI lawyer Alan Jackson on the basis of this demanded to close the case.
The other day, the Little family voluntarily abandoned the second, civil lawsuit filed in court last week, which was accused of Spacey of the fact that the actor had given their son alcohol, after which he began to touch him obscenely. The reason for the recall of the claim was not reported.
Recall that the case against actor Kevin Spacey began with a major scandal after the statement of the Star Trek star Anthony Rapp. He said that when he was 14 years old, a drunken actor tried to seduce him. Spacey said that he did not remember the incident with harassment to the minor at that time RAPPU, but he apologized to him.
Subsequently, the Mexican actor Roberto Kawazos said that he became a victim of sexual harassment by Spacey and knows many other people who were in a similar situation. To date, the number of people who declared harassment by the actor is several dozen people.
Last year, the former host of Boston television, Hiser Yunra, at a press conference, accused Spacey of trying to rape her son, allegedly undertaken by the actor in July 2016 in one of the bars of Nantakate. According to the woman, the actor watered the young man before performing depraved actions.
59 -year -old Kevin Spacey is an American actor and director, winner of two Oscar awards. He is also known for the main role in the series "House of Cards". In 2017, a scandal flared up around Spacey after actor Anthony RApp accused him of sexual harassment, allegedly taking place about 30 years ago.
Subsequently, the CIN-EN TV channel said that eight people who participated in the filming of the series "Cards of the House" told reporters about harassment from Spacey. Later, about 30 more people made similar accusations. Due to the scandal, the actor was fired from the project.
