Boeing won't publish a report for the second quarter of 2019 until next week, but the company has already named the main figure : the loss of $4.9 billion (after taxes) due to the termination of Boeing-737 MAX flights.
- This represents the largest quarterly net loss in history of $3.6 billion. The loss of pre-tax revenue will be $5.6 billion on quarterly revenue of about $20 billion.
- The amount includes fines and other additional costs associated with 737 MAX, including those charged to future years. It does not include the amount of claims from relatives of the victims of the two disasters. It is valued at $3 billion.
- Due to the reduction in production of the 737 MAX this year, the total cost of each aircraft of this type produced in the future will increase by $900,000.
- On the news of the loss, which brought certainty to investors, Boeing shares rose 2%.
