A participant in protests against changing the borders between Ingushetia and Chechnya was charged

Placed in a pre-trial detention center in the city of Nalchik, Zarifa Sautiyeva, a participant in protests against the redistribution of borders between Ingushetia and Chechnya, was charged with organizing the use of violence against government officials (part 3 of article 33, part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). It is reported by Interfax with reference to the lawyer Bilan Dzugaev.

According to the lawyer, the investigation believes that they already have enough evidence of Sautiyeva's guilt. Before being charged, the activist herself asked to re-examine the evidence in the case in order to prove her innocence.

“Zarifa also filed petitions for other evidence to be checked before she was charged, namely other videos from the place of the rally, and also for a new linguistic examination with her statements, since the past examination translated her words incorrectly. However, in violation of her rights, without checking these circumstances (and checking them, perhaps, would have canceled the very need to bring charges), the investigation nevertheless charged her, ”Bilan Dzugaev said in a conversation with the Caucasian Knot publication .

On July 15, the Nalchik city court sent Zarifa Sautiyeva to a pre-trial detention center on suspicion of complicity in the use of violence against government officials. Sautieva was supported by the Ingush branch of Yabloko, the Support of Ingushetia movement, the Patriotic Union of Women of Ingushetia, as well as members of the Council of Alims and Imams of settlements in Ingushetia.

• In September 2018, the authorities of Ingushetia and Chechnya signed an agreement to change the border between the republics, after which protests began in Ingushetia.
• On March 26, about 10,000 people came out to a rally in Magas. About two thousand protesters remained on the square all night. In the morning they began to be dispersed, as a result of which clashes broke out between the security forces and the protesters .
• The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on incitement to mass riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence dangerous to life and health against law enforcement officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). It already has at least 31 defendants, at least 28 suspects and defendants are in custody.
