Forbes named the most expensive sports clubs in the world. The Dallas Cowboys topped the list, with Real Madrid third.

Forbes magazine has published an annual list of the most expensive sports clubs in the world.

Topping the list is the Dallas Cowboys, a National Football League club valued at $5 billion. In second place is the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (4.6 billion), and Real Madrid is in third place (4.24 billion).

There are 50 teams on the list, eight of them are football clubs from Europe. In addition to Real Madrid, these are Barcelona (4th), Manchester United (6th), Bayern Munich (17th), Manchester City (25th), Chelsea (32nd place), Arsenal (42nd place) and Liverpool (45th place). All other clubs represent the United States: there are 26 teams from the NFL, nine from the NBA, and seven from Major League Baseball.

• The Dallas Cowboys topped the Forbes list for the fifth year in a row. The team last won an NFL championship in 1995.
