A Moscow resident sued the bailiffs after her pension was illegally seized to pay a fine.

Turana Varzhabetyan, a pensioner from Moscow, filed a lawsuit with the Moscow Dorogomilovsky Court against bailiffs. She accuses them of illegally seizing 10,000 rubles from her pension to pay a fine for participating in the picket. This was reported to MBKh Media by the lawyer of the Public Verdict, Alexei Laptev.

Varzhabetyan claims that the seizure of money was illegal, since she paid the fine back in the summer of 2018. Then the Moscow City Court for the third time approved her a fine for participating in the action on March 26, 2017 under the article on violation of the rules for holding the event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Prior to this, the Tverskoy District Court found Varzhabetyan guilty three times, but the Moscow City Court overturned these decisions due to procedural violations.

Laptev also noted that 10 thousand rubles is more than half of Varzhabetyan's pension.

• On March 26, 2017, Varzhabetyan participated in an anti-corruption campaign in Moscow. During the arrest, the police dislocated the pensioner's arm.
• In February, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) communicated Varzhabetyan's complaint about being beaten by police officers during the dispersal of a rally on May 6, 2012 on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow.
• On May 6, 2012, Varzhabetyan saw several OMON officers beating two young men and yelled at them to stop. The pensioner saw a police officer next to her, who swung a baton at her, after which she felt a blow to the head and lost consciousness. Later, doctors diagnosed Varzhabetyan with a concussion.
