The Investigative Committee has charged a Chernovik journalist with financing terrorism.

The Investigative Committee in Dagestan has charged Chernovik journalist Abdulmumin Gadzhiev with financing terrorism. The head of the international human rights group "Agora" Pavel Chikov announced this in his Telegram channel.

According to investigators, Gadzhiev committed a crime under Part 4 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code (organization of terrorist financing). According to the document published by Chikov, the journalist, since about 2011, has been involved in organizing the financing of the activities of the Islamic State, an organization recognized as terrorist in Russia.

The department indicated that Gadzhiev published false information in the Chernovik newspaper about the charitable activities of the Dagestani preacher Israil Akhmednabiev. According to investigators, the money sent by newspaper readers actually went to finance terrorist activities in Syria.
