In St. Petersburg, on the Moika embankment, the body of former Russian and German kickboxing champion Sergei Karpenko was discovered. According to the telegram channel "Mash on the Moika", the cause of death of 51-year-old Karpenko was a gunshot wound to the head.
Karpenko as an athlete won the CIS championship in 1991, and in 1992 he became the champion of Russia and the armed forces. In 1993, he became a finalist at the European Kickboxing Championship.
Later he played for the German kickboxing club in Berlin, became the champion of the German capital and the winner of many international tournaments among professionals. In recent years, Karpenko has trained young athletes.
