“Why did you run away?”: The author of the Moscow metro logo broke his foot in front of the city hall

One of the first detainees on July 27 was the famous designer Konstantin Konovalov, the author of the current logo of the Moscow metro. The fighters of the Russian Guard thought that he was running away from them, while Konovalov simply made a morning run. When detained, his leg was broken.

I participate in [protest] promotions, I was almost everyone, but before I was never detained. I will not hide, I was going to visit the rally. I live in the center, I run every morning. Osip Bow, who is next to my house and next to the Moscow City Duma, was closed for the whole day, although it is always open on weekends. The security explained to me that the city was in the city, and the park was closed just in case. You can see on Strava (a mobile application for running fans- OVD-info ) see: every day I run five kilometers either around the city or in the park. I ran around the city. Since I planned to go out [to the action], I decided to run to Tverskaya, see what is there and how.

I ran around several circles around the city hall, photographed. Several times the police ran into me: why are you taking a picture? Although it seems to be possible. I stopped and began to take pictures of the auto -zaks, who stood in a huge amount in Voznesensky Lane. Two policemen went slowly. I decided: okay, I'm going on. I ran a quarter, then the Rosgvardists began to run upon me from different sides.

I had to jump onto the roadway, from behind the autozak some boors jumped out, who hit my leg with his foot with all the dope. The rest fell me and began to blow. It was at 11 o’clock 5 minutes in the morning. I took the contacts of the guys who were also detained. They say that they can act as witnesses, they saw all this.

They stuffed me into a car zak, there the policeman asks:

- You just ran?

- Well, yes.

And the police began to laugh. They said they thought I was running away. When I was poured, I shouted:

- For what?

- Why did you run away?

Maybe it was a mistake, but I weigh 73 kilograms, these guys would have stopped me together, and there was no need to beat me. I was first beaten on the road, then on the sidewalk.

Then I was transplanted to another autosak, I sat there alone, probably an hour. Avtozak drove somewhere, drove up to another autosak, they forcibly transferred me there. My leg immediately started to hurt. As soon as I was detained, I contacted the OVD-Info, there they told me that I could call a doctor. I demanded a doctor - I was not provided.

The doctor arrived at the police department, said that he had to lead to an X -ray. The police did not want to let go, demanded an explanatory one. I refused, referring to the 51st article of the Constitution, I demanded to communicate in the presence of a lawyer. They say that I don’t have a lawyer, I replied that the lawyer is standing, and he is not allowed.

As a result, I went to the ambulance to the emergency room, they made an X -ray at the emergency room, they said that I had a fracture, they took it to the hospital. I'm going through the examinations now. The doctor said that I have some abrasions on my back. I do not see my back, I don’t know how global it is. But they beat me on the back with my feet. Bruises on both legs, one of them is broken.

I am running five kilometers, Strava shows that I ran 4 kilometers 900 meters, after 100 meters I had to stop. After running, I was dehydrated, but they did not give me water. I sat and filed in a hot car. Maybe they had the prerequisites to clarify whether I was being removed, maybe they really thought that I was running away. But how they beat me, covers all this. I have a feeling: if I was detained, I was wrong in something, trying to find logic. I am lying now with a broken leg, but I try to treat this with humor.
