The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case for mass riots in connection with the July 27 rally in support of independent candidates in the Moscow City Duma elections. This was reported on the official website of the Investigative Committee.

The Investigative Committee’s website also writes that on July 27, the participants of the action, “being in the center of Moscow, ignoring the legitimate demands of government officials, grossly violating public order, used violence against government officials, broke through the cordon, and, entering the roadway, paralyzed the movement of vehicles.” on the Garden Ring in Moscow, and also committed other illegal actions.”
