The Presnensky District Court of Moscow found Mikhail Svetov, a member of the Libertarian Party, guilty under the article on repeated violation of the rules for holding an action (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and appointed him 30 days of arrest. This was reported to OVD-Info by lawyer Mikhail Biryukov, who represented the interests of the politician in court on behalf of the organization.
Mikhail Svetov was detained immediately after negotiations with the mayor's office of Moscow about the action on August 3 in support of independent candidates for deputies to the Moscow City Duma. The formal reason for Svetov's detention was his speech on July 16 at Trubnaya Square. A protocol was drawn up against him on a repeated violation of the rules for holding a rally, since in September 2018 he was arrested for 10 days for participating in an uncoordinated rally (part 6.1 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) during a rally against pension reform in St. Petersburg.
The judge granted the motions of Mikhail Biryukov, a lawyer from OVD-Info, to call the policemen who had detained Svetov as witnesses. They stated that they seized the detainee's phone and player "in connection with their safety."
“I perceive what is happening as an act of intimidation against me personally. I followed Article 31 of the Constitution. This is revenge for the refusal to hold a rally on Sakharov Avenue, which was desired by the mayor's office. I perceive this as a political matter, in no way connected with the establishment of justice, as an attempt to intimidate me personally and the people who support me, ” quotes Svetov. Mediazona
