A man with a knife stabbed a policeman and wounded his colleague in Surgut

A man with a knife wounded one policeman and fatally wounded another during an arrest attempt in Surgut, the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports .

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement that the deceased was a patrol officer, Sergeant Khanov.

According to the department, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the police dispatch center was informed about a suspicious person in the courtyard of an apartment building on Pushkin Street. The patrol service crew arrived in the yard and found an unknown man, whom the police tried to detain; he “provided active resistance” and stabbed both of them.

“The wounded policeman used his service weapon to kill,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs concludes. The message does not specify whether the attacker survived.

According to TASS , the attacker was an employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations; his name has not been disclosed.

On August 19, 2017, in the center of Surgut, a young man with a dummy bomb wounded seven passers-by with a knife; he was killed by the police.
