The North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced Dagestan resident Timur Muritov, accused of recruitment to Syria and possession of firearms and ammunition, to eight years in a general regime colony. This is reported on the court's website.

The defendant was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code (promotion of terrorist activities), Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code (illegal storage of ammunition) and Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal storage of explosive devices).

The investigation and the court established that from May to June 2015 in Makhachkala, the defendant “through persuasion, persuasion, demonstration of videos and printed materials” persuaded local residents to go to Syria to fight on the side of the militants.
