The case against the first suspect in the murder of activist Elena Grigorieva was dropped

In St. Petersburg, the investigation stopped the criminal prosecution of a native of Kyrgyzstan, Davron Mukhamedov, who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code) of activist Elena Grigorieva, according to the telegram channel of the joint press service of the city courts.

In addition, the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg arrested local resident Alexei Volnyanko in connection with the murder of an activist. According to investigators, on the night of July 21, Volnyanko, while intoxicated near a house on Pulkovskaya Street, “due to a sudden hostile relationship,” inflicted multiple stab wounds on Grigorieva.

Volnyanko, who worked as a storekeeper at the Eldorado store, was detained on July 31. “As the investigation assures, he signed a sincere confession,” the press service writes.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that the arrested Mukhamedov gave testimony “incriminating the person who actually committed the murder of the above-mentioned woman.” He turned out to be a man born in 1990.

Grigorieva’s body with multiple stab wounds was found near her home on July 21. Relatives of the activist reported that before her death she received threats and was on the list of victims of the Saw against LGBT project. In turn, the Investigative Committee called Grigorieva’s murder a drunken “domestic conflict.”
