The head of the “Left Bloc” Vasily Kuzmin was again interrogated by the Investigative Committee

The Investigative Committee re-interrogated the coordinator of the Left Bloc movement Vasily Kuzmin in the case of mass unrest. He was not charged. This was reported by the TASS news agency with reference to Leonid Solovyov, a lawyer from the Agora International Human Rights Group.

“After the investigation reviewed additional evidence during the interrogation of my client in the status of a witness, it was established that he was not involved in [actions falling under Article] 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Vasily Kuzmin was released, he is going home,” the lawyer told the agency.

As Kuzmin’s girlfriend told MBKh Media, he was taken away for interrogation late in the evening on August 1. Before this, they noticed that they were being followed all day.

On the night of July 31, the police came to search the apartment where Vasily Kuzmin lives, also in connection with the mass riots. The activist's computer was confiscated, and he himself was interrogated by the Investigative Committee. On the same day, the apartment of Sergei Fomin, a participant in the July 27 action, was searched.

• Charges in the case of mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code) have already been brought against five people - Kirill Zhukov, Ivan Podkopaev, Alexey Minyailo, Samariddin Radzhabov and Evgeniy Kovalenko. The latter is also accused in the case of using violence against a police officer (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code) because of a ballot box thrown at a police officer.
• In total, during protests in Moscow on July 27 in support of independent candidates in the Moscow City Duma elections, according to OVD-Info, 1,373 people were detained . At least 265 detainees spent the night in police departments. Three days after the action, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for mass riots.
