The TASS news agency, citing a source close to the investigation, reports that five more people have been detained in connection with the mass riots in Moscow.
“On Monday, a preventive measure will be chosen for five more defendants in the riot case,” the agency reports the words of an unnamed source.
- Charges in the case of mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code) have already been brought against five people - Kirill Zhukov, Ivan Podkopaev, Alexei Minyaylo, Samariddin Radjabov and Yevgeny Kovalenko. Three of them are also accused in the case of using violence against a policeman (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). Podkopaev, Minyailo, Radjabov, Kovalenko and Kirill Zhukov have already been sent to a pre-trial detention center. The sixth suspect, Yegor Zhukov, is awaiting trial.
- In total, during the protest actions in Moscow on July 27 in support of independent candidates in the elections to the Moscow City Duma, according to OVD-Info, were detained 1,373 people . At least 265 detainees spent the night in police departments. Three days after the action, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the riots.
