The dollar exchange rate for the first time since June exceeded the mark of 65 rubles, follows from the data of the Moscow Exchange. It grew by 67 kopecks. The euro exchange rate also increased by 82 kopecks: at 12 o'clock Moscow time it was 72.15 rubles.
- The fall of the ruble began following the fall in world oil prices after the tweet of US President Donald Trump about the imposition of new sanctions by Washington against China. We wrote about it here . After such an announcement, as of 21:35 Moscow time, the price of oil fell by 6.89% to $60.57 per barrel. WTI crude fell 7.49% to $54.19.
- After the news about new sanctions against Russia, signed by the President of the United States (read about it here ), the Moscow Exchange and RTS indices lost 1.2-2% in a minute.
- Two days before, the ruble, on the contrary, grew against the dollar after the decision of the US Federal Reserve System to lower the base interest rate by 25 bp, to 2-2.25%. More about this here.
