The dollar exchange rate exceeded 65 rubles for the first time since June, according to data from the Moscow Exchange. It increased by 67 kopecks. The euro exchange rate also increased by 82 kopecks: at 12 o'clock Moscow time it was 72.15 rubles.
- The fall of the ruble began following the fall in world oil prices after US President Donald Trump's tweet about Washington imposing new sanctions against China. We wrote about this here . After such an announcement, as of 21:35 Moscow time, the price of oil decreased by 6.89% to $60.57 per barrel. WTI oil fell by 7.49% to $54.19.
- After the news about new sanctions against Russia, the decree of which was signed by the US President (read about it here ), the Moscow Exchange and RTS indices lost 1.2-2% in a minute.
- Two days before, the ruble, on the contrary, was growing against the dollar after the US Federal Reserve decided to lower the base interest rate by 25 bp, to 2-2.25%. Read more about this here.
