Interview with Ksolomir Vranks

Krasimir Vranks is the organizer and chief leader of the St. Petersburg shares on July 24 and August 3. - This time there were fewer people than July 24. Why, how do you think?

- We just wanted fewer people to come this time, as we organized a rally in just a few days. They just wanted to express support to our friends in Moscow - people who are also trying to register for the polls.

We did not chase to collect thousands, but simply wanted to show that Petersburg for Moscow and that we would help them in every way.

- Why do you need a rally on August 17?

-On August 17, we plan a procession-demonstration, access to the city in several streets. Because [the authorities] still impede some independent candidates, they are not registered.

The elections are already falsified at this stage - for example, they want to open polling stations in the Pskov region, which is unacceptable. And, again, we demand the cancellation of the municipal filter. We will go out until our requirements are met

- Is the route of the procession already defined?

- We have five [options]. Among them are the routes that end in Lenin, Smolnoy or Sennaya Square. We plan to voice the final route on Monday [August 5].

- Why is such a difference between the reaction of the police and the authorities to shares in St. Petersburg and in Moscow?

- I don't know. In a pleasant sense, he is very surprised by the reaction of the police, by the fact that they contributed to [holding a rally] and stopped provocations.

I wanted to start a rally with the slogan "garbage - shame of Russia." But after the St. Petersburg police began to help us and fight provocations, I did not do this.

- Nikolai Starikov, “generation z” - provocations are repeated by the second rally in a row. What is it at all?

- There were still "Prigozhinsky." The provocateurs at the very beginning tried to capture the scene. I think the authorities are afraid of these protests and with the help of provocateurs are trying to hinder us.

- Do you think the provocateurs act at the same time with the authorities?

-Of course, they clearly waited for the team from someone in order to proceed to some kind of action. I saw that they climbed the stage only waiting for the team from someone. The provocateurs wanted to take the scene in the ring, but the police intervened.

- Today, the rally did not declare the governor’s elections. Why?

- In any case, we will take measures against the propulsion acting and [in the future] to prevent its election.

- Why have you become the main person of the rally, not other opposition and political forces?

“I don't know why I am.” But I have not seen people who would zealously protect the rights of Petersburgers. I want changes, I want new political persons. I was a civilian activist (Krasimir - the founder and coordinator of the “Beautiful Petersburg” movement, approx. “Papers” ), but I had to engage in politics and defend our general rights (Vranks declared my participation in the governor’s elections, but later took off my candidacy - approx. “Papers” ). Because now we have a huge bunch of garbage and muck, which must be removed from the road, we must restore order.

- At both rallies, alternative to Alexander Beglov, candidates for governors performed. They show so that they are not spoilers, or does it mean nothing?

- Governors give permission to participate [current authorities] candidates. I want to change this so that all those who meet the legal requirements of admission, and not to determine the Kremlin, are allowed. There are worthy people in St. Petersburg.
