Willy Tokarev composed and performed songs in the Russian Chanson genre. He released the first record in 1979, when he lived in exile in the United States. In the 1980s, Tokarev performed in Russian-speaking restaurants in New York. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the artist returned to Russia. In total, he released about 50 albums.
