Igor Kalyapin, a member of the Presidential Council of Human Rights (HRC) and the creator of the committee against torture, told the OVD-Info how he was detained while he watched on August 3 to protests in the center of the capital, the work of the police and the Russian Guard. Already at the Maryino police department, the security forces realized that they were detained by the presidential adviser, and released Kalyapin.

They detained me on Pushkinskaya Square. I started my walk yesterday with pure ponds, moving along the boulevard ring, bypassing the cordons, which were at all intersections. When I reached Pushkinskaya Square, there was a cluster of people. From time to time someone was detained. Ten people with me were dragged into a car gut, I could not understand what logic, for what? For some gestures, words?

I walked all the way with a phone with a video on. The filming group “Rain” worked on Pushkinskaya Square, greeted Vasily Polonsky, we have been familiar with him for a long time. He suggested that I say a few words on camera. I literally said something to him for a minute, then we were interrupted, because they dragged people again past us, Vasily began to shoot it.

I stood just a couple of minutes in the crowd of people, where almost everyone was filmed on phones and tablets. Then they came up to me from behind - I did not even notice these three guards - they grabbed me and dragged me to the car carrier. I did not resist, tried to smile. Asked them for what you are delaying, one answered a license:

- For participation in the illegal rally.

Maybe I attracted their attention, giving an interview “Rain”. Realizing that I was not a policeman and not an official, they decided that I was some kind of revolutionary. Another possible reason: when I went through the intersection on Petrovka, several detainees were loaded with me in the autozak. The Russian Guards brought people by the arms and legs, put on a stretch of a car carrier.

Since I walked, openly shooting on the phone, one guardsman came up to me and asked:

- Why are you shooting?

- For yourself.

- What are you going to do with this?

- I haven't decided yet.

- Stop shooting.

I began to explain to him that his demand is illegal. It was evident that he was barely restraining. The black bandage that covers his mouth swayed: I expected that he would either hold me or hit me, but he suddenly turned away from me and left a quick step. Maybe this Russian Guard also ended up on Pushkinskaya, recognized me and decided to punish me.

I did not stand out from the crowd, I had a task - in no way I could not be like a participant in the action, but I did not have any badges, identification marks, I did not seem to be any honeymoon and observer. I had the task of seeing what is happening with an ordinary citizen who is not in solidarizes with the participants in the action, but is on the first line and does not object to the police when they make illegal requirements. I got such an operational experiment.

On pure ponds, I met with [hinges' members] [Leonid] Nikitinsky and [Ilya] Shablinsky. They positioned themselves as observers, I did not position myself when they detained me, I did not seem to be.

When I was thrown into a car gut, there was 12-15 people there. I was accompanied there with the use of strength, but without pain techniques: I did not resist. For half an hour we waited for the car carrier to fill. When we went - we were not told where - as it turned out, in the Maryino police department. There we sat at the gates of the police department for an hour and a half. I don’t know, these were the employees of the Russian Guard or the police, but they also released it to the toilet, and answered questions - at least unauthorizing.

We were offered to hand over passports. I refused because it is wrong. While we were driving, I managed to get acquainted with the guys. It turned out that I was the only non -Moskvich there. In addition, there was a notorious Dmitry Demushkin , who was loudly indignant at the fact that he participated in the rally as a journalist who had a certificate, an editorial task and badge, but only a badge remained because he handed the rest of the Rosgvardi ensign, who put them in his pocket, and Mr. Demushkin was left without documents. However, then he took Badge from him.

Against the backdrop of this story, I did not want to transfer their passport to someone, as on a bus for the conductor for the conductor. I know these Rosgvardians: then you will not find who and what I gave. And, frankly, I did not want to light up ahead of time.

An employee of the Russian Guard asked me:

- Why don't you pass your passport?

- I will hand over to a person who will present me and will conduct a analysis with me.

He rudely, with his mother, replied:

- So, sit, wait, you will be the last.

It suited me. Two people began to withdraw from the autozak and take it into the building, as I understand it, for design. Then the captain of the police looked into the car Zak, named my last name. Asked: is there one? I replied that there is. I left the autozak, I thought that they would also lead me to draw up a protocol, but the only thing the captain asked if I had a complaint against police officers. I replied not. He says:

- Then you are free.

- A second. I want to file an application for a crime.

- And what happened?

- I was illegally detained by the employees of the Russian Guard, used physical strength. I want to apply to the Investigative Committee through the duty part of your department.

While I was in Avtosak, Mikhail Aleksandrovich Fedotov called me two times (the chairman of the HRC- the OVD-Info ). I said that the autozak came to the Maryino police department. As far as I understand, I was released by telephone.
