WSJ: Washington’s special envoy to North Korea may become the new US ambassador to Russia

Special Representative for the DPRK Stephen Biegun and Ambassador to Germany Richard Grennel are being considered for the position of the new US Ambassador to Russia. The Wall Street Journal writes about it.

According to the publication, Bigan has known Russia since his work as vice president of Ford. Grennel, according to a newspaper source close to him, is not interested in being transferred to Moscow.

Another WSJ source in Washington said that US President Donald Trump has not yet decided on a candidate for the post of ambassador. The State Department declined to comment on the situation.

• The current U.S. Ambassador to Moscow, John Huntsman, who has been in office since 2017, will retire on October 3. This is due to his desire to take part in the struggle for the post of governor of Utah.
