Popular blogger Yuri Dud posted on his social networks an appeal to join the protesters and go to a rally on August 10 in support of candidates who were not allowed to participate in the Moscow City Duma elections and against police brutality.
“In recent years, young people in Russia have been as uninteresting as possible to touch on elections, protests, Basmanny justice, political prisoners, that’s all. The last two Saturdays have shown what our inertia has led to. Our inertia has led to the fact that there is no one new in the most important offices, the same bodies are moving there: their gray hairs, bald heads, jackets and the speed of raising their palms in unanimous votes are more and more reminiscent of the scenery of Soviet, as it were, political life. Our inertia has led to the fact that any political competition has been destroyed. Our inertia has led to the fact that anyone who conceives this competition instantly gets hit in the face with a sleeper. And most importantly, any of us can now get a sleeper in the face, ”he writes.
Dud urged his subscribers to think critically, question, ask questions and not accept it as the norm when innocent people are thrown into jail or severely beaten by the police.
“August 10, Saturday, at 14:00, I will go out to Sakharov Avenue to a rally in support of those already arrested and against the lawlessness of the cops. The rally was agreed, and at once for 100,000 people. It will be cool if so many people come there. The more of us, the more chances that someday the citizens of Russia will stop being hit in the face with a sleeper, ”he concludes.
