Students turn the Swedish names of IKEA goods into Russian -speaking ends of abstract jokes.

If you do not display records from VKontakte - update the material.
In early August, social networks drew attention to the Memkete community, in which all jokes are built on the names of furniture or interior items from IKEA. TJ spoke with the founders of the community, students of MGIMO Maxim Lyalin and Dmitry Libzis.
The creators of the public said that the idea was born after Maxim's joke in the conversation of classmates. Students decided to set the table for the examiners, and one of the girls volunteered to buy food for him. After that, the co -author of the future community threw the first table from the IKEA catalog into the dialogue.

After that, Maxim and Dmitry delved into the store catalog. It seemed to them that such jokes would attract a large audience. Then they decided to create a community: “The game works at a subconscious level. Even stupid and meaningless names can sound funny in a certain context. ” For a month and a half of existence, the public gained 6 thousand subscribers. They almost immediately connected a student of the journalism department of MGIMO Marina Teplova, a girl of Dmitry.
The founders of the community chose IKEA goods, since the brand first comes to their mind when it comes to strange names: “In addition, they are funny for the Russian ear. There are many options on how to beat them. ”
The company translits the Russian-speaking names of goods from Swedish-for example, the plush shark " BlåHaj " in Russian is called " Blochei ". At first glance, the seemingly strange items have a strict system developed by IKEA founder Ingvar Camprad. The entrepreneur suffered from dyslexia - it was difficult for him to remember the codes of goods, so he decided to simplify the situation.
Objects are called in honor of a certain Swedish word depending on the type of goods. For example, all garden furniture is named after the Scandinavian islands. So, the Samso umbrella was named in honor of the Danish Island in the Central Jutland.
Carpets are named after Danish or Swedish cities, bathtub accessories - in honor of flowers and plants, regiments - in honor of professions or male names, beds - in honor of the regions of Norway, and fabrics and curtains - in honor of female names. For example, measure is the Scandinavian femalename .
The creators of the public said that there is no process of inventing jokes. Those “beg themselves” when the authors view the store catalog. Now they decided to systematize the work and explore the sections of the store in order: "Recently, they completely passed the section of garden furniture."
The founders of the community noted that they receive many memes from subscribers - they have to select the funniest of the “proposed”. “We like the format when subscribers directly affect the content of public and help us out when all ideas end. We have very talented subscribers, ”Dmitry admitted.
The authors plan to develop public until the store catalog ends: “And when it ends, there will be seasonal updates. Maybe. We never thought that we would wait for DLC from IKEA. ”
