The most massive protest in recent years took place in Moscow. Approximately 60,000 people attended the agreed rally on Sakharov Avenue. The main demands of the people are to stop the criminal case initiated under the article on “mass riots” after the rally on July 27, to release its defendants and to register independent candidates for participation in the elections to the Moscow City Duma. Actions of solidarity with similar demands were held in more than 40 Russian cities. They were attended by several thousand people across the country. People went to rallies and single pickets. In St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don and Bryansk, police detained participants in these actions.

According to the lawyer of OVD-Info, he may become the thirteenth defendant in the criminal case on "mass riots." Until half past six in the morning, he was interrogated at the Investigative Committee on this case. After the interrogation, Vasilyev was left in the temporary detention facility. He has diabetes, but he was forbidden to take insulin and a glucometer into the cell. At 2 p.m. on August 10, Vasiliev was hospitalized due to high blood sugar levels. A court hearing is scheduled for August 11, which will choose a measure of restraint for him. The investigator tried to put pressure on Vasiliev's relatives so that the suspect refused the lawyer provided by OVD-Info. Later it became known that Vasilyev was in intensive care . Doctors suspect that the man has cerebral edema.

• On the eve of the action, the Investigative Committee issued a statement : “participation in such unauthorized events entails legal consequences up to criminal liability.”
