Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev won with a score of 6: 1, 7: 6 compatriot Karen Khachanov in the semifinals of a prestigious tournament in Montreal, whose prize fund is about 6.3 million euros.
Earlier, Daniil and Karen met together twice, in 2018, Khachanov beat Medvedev at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, and in 2017, Medvedev was already stronger at the tournament in Milan.
In the decisive match of the competition, 23-year-old Medvedev will play with the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who at the same stage of the tournament defeated the Frenchman Gael Monfis.
“Now I play very well. If I can also continue, it will not be easy, it will be a big fight. I hope that I can win it,” the Asia -Pacific website quoted by Daniil as saying.
Medvedev for the second time in a month became a finalist, a week ago he lost to Washington Australian Nick Kirios. In the updated ATP rating, which will be released on Monday, Medvedev will bypass Khachanova and become the first racket of Russia.
