Human rights activist Irina Yatsenko was detained near the Investigative Committee building on Arbat

Human rights activist Irina Yatsenko was detained during a picket in support of Konstantin Kotov near the building of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee in Moscow. Detention witness Nikolai Players reported this to the OVD-Info hotline.

Yatsenko was taken to the Arbat police station.

18:40 “Avtozak LIVE” writes that in addition to Irina Yatsenko, several more people were detained.

31 August 14:55 Later it became known that only Yatsenko was detained. The activist was released without a protocol. Yatsenko wrote on Facebook that “as a result of the calls, it turned out” that she was not detained, but was simply writing a statement.

• Konstantin Kotov is a civil activist against whom a criminal case was opened for “repeated violations of the procedure for holding public events” (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code). Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code attracted public attention after the only person convicted under this article, Moscow activist Ildar Dadin, reported on the torture he suffered in the colony. Dadin's case was dismissed, he was released, and before that the Constitutional Court recommended that the article be applied only in cases where a person's actions pose a danger.
