The Moscow City Court approved arrests for two months for the defendants in the case of "mass riots" on July 27, Ivan Podkopaev, Sergei Abanichev, Samariddin Radjabov and Vladislav Barabanov. It is reported by Mediazona.
All the accused were present at the trial via video broadcast from the pre-trial detention center. They complained about the poor quality of the connection, but during the hearing on Barabanov's case, the SIZO officer assured the court that the connection was working well.
At the meeting on the case of Ivan Podkopaev, his father Roman Podkopaev was interrogated. He told how his son served in the army. “There was a case where he saved an officer. In general, kind, but a little reserved, ”Podkopaev quotes the publication.
During the meeting to consider the appeal against the arrest of Abanichev, the editor-in-chief of Mediazona Sergey Smirnov spoke. He vouched for Abanichev and offered to make a deposit of 1 million rubles for him.
Abanichev's lawyer, Svetlana Sidorkina, asked to add to the case information about the defendant's poor health during a search at his home. He has a serious brain disease. The judge did not accept the medical report.
Radjabov's lawyer Anri Tsiskarishvili noted that the decision to detain him was justified solely by the gravity of the article, but not by specific acts. He is also accused of attempted violence against a police officer (Article 30, Article 318 of the Criminal Code).
