The bomb of the Great Patriotic War was discovered and neutralized on the territory of the so -called glacier (ice cellar) in the territory of the Moscow Kremlin, which caused the suspension of the work of archaeologists and media workers in the Big Kremlin square. This was announced on Thursday by the commandant of the Moscow Kremlin Sergey Khlebnikov. His words are given by TASS.

“An aviation bomb was discovered, in all likelihood, the times of the Great Patriotic War,” he said. “This shell, the bomb did not explode, was hidden by a large layer of earth.” The bomb was neutralized and taken out for liquidation.

In the first years of the war, despite the enhanced disguise, the Kremlin was repeatedly bombarded. So, during a raid on August 10-11, 1941, one of the bombs fell next to the Nikolskaya Tower, RIA Novosti reports.

The dangerous find was found in the production of construction work on the slope of the Tynitsky Garden from the Moscow River, where in the tsarist times there was a cellar for storing products and where the soil cut for waterproofing was now made so that this room could be adapted to other household needs, Interfax reports with reference to Sergei Khlebnikov.

A group of representatives of the federal media on August 15, on the day of the archaeologist, was invited to excavations in the Kremlin. The head of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Makarov and his colleagues spoke about the progress of work in the Big Kremlin Square, where since May 2019, experts have been digging the order built in the XVII century.
