Medvedev: It is necessary to submit to the awards the crew that landed the A321 near Zhukovsky

The actions of the A321 crew, which made an emergency landing in the field near Zhukovsky, deserve the highest rating and awards, said Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, opening a government meeting on Thursday.

“It is obvious that the crew’s actions deserve the highest rating, as a result of the consideration of this situation, it will be necessary to prepare documents on how to present them to state awards,” the TASS agency quotes the prime minister.

Medvedev emphasized that thanks to the skillful actions of the crew, it was possible to prevent the catastrophe and death of people.

“It is clear that the commissions will work there, which will have to find out what happened and because of what,” the prime minister added. “But in any case, the plane managed to land in such very difficult conditions - this is, of course, a very good event.”

Specialists are now analyzing the situation. “Let the experts understand, indeed, what happened in all the procedures,” the Prime Minister instructed, referring to the head of the Ministry of Transport Evgeny Dietrich.

On the morning of August 15, the Airbus A321, which followed the Moscow -Simferopol flight, after departure from the airport, Zhukovsky made a rigid landing in the field in the Ramensky district of the Moscow region. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, on take -off, the plane ran into a flock of gulls, which led to interruptions in the operation of the engines. As a result, one of them caught fire and fell off when landing. In total, 226 passengers were on board the aircraft, including 41 children.

The crew managed to land the plane on the belly on the corn field. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Emergencies of the Moscow Region, 55 people applied for medical help as a result of the emergency, 17 children. A criminal case has been instituted on the fact of rigid landing under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport").
