The Moscow City Court approved arrests for two months for the defendants in the case of "mass riots" on July 27, Alexei Minyailo, Yegor Zhukov, Kirill Zhukov and Daniil Konon. It is reported by Mediazona.
Egor Zhukov participated in the meeting via video link. At least 80 people came to support him. Rapper Oksimiron (Miron Fedorov) also tried to get to him, but there was not enough space in the courtroom. The rapper signed a guarantee for the accused and offered to make a bail of 2 million rubles.
In addition, 611 more people vouched for Yegor Zhukov. Among them are Novaya Gazeta publisher Dmitry Muratov, Ekho Moskvy editor-in-chief Alexei Venediktov, Moscow City Duma candidate Lyubov Sobol, actress Chulpan Khamatova, HSE Vice-Rector Valeria Kasamara and more than 300 university staff. However, the judge did not attach guarantees of people who did not come to court to the case file.
Far fewer people were present at the meeting on the case of Kirill Zhukov. In the hall, which can accommodate no more than 20 people, there were 11 listeners, most of whom are relatives of the accused. The guarantors for Kirill Zhukov were 6 people, including the father of the accused, as well as the historian Nikolai Svanidze.
Sobol, Mitya Aleshkovsky, President of the Tradition Charitable Foundation Vladimir Berkhin, directors Kama Ginkas and Henrietta Yanovskaya and others vouched for Lyubov Sobol's headquarters activist Aleksey Minyailo. According to the lawyer, the guarantors were not allowed into the court building. The teacher of the history department of Moscow State University gave a positive description of Minyailo. In addition, the 70-year-old mother of the activist, Nadezhda Minyaylo, said in court that she was ready to pay bail for her son.
Minyailo said at the meeting:
I want to make a sincere confession. I have loved Russia since childhood. And for a long time I did not separate government agencies and the country. I am ashamed to admit that I was even a supporter of Putin. I love Russia and don't stand by watching it being raped by an organized crime group led by Putin.
150 people vouched for Bauman Moscow State Technical University student Daniil Konon, the judge included them in the case file. After the meeting, Konon delivered a speech addressed to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, which is quoted by Mediazona:
Hello, Sergey Semenovich! You recently gave an interview about an uncoordinated rally in which you complained about the lack of a Moscow residence permit for the detainees. You are being addressed by a person who was born in Moscow, has a Moscow residence permit, wrote a number of articles about Moscow, and was even named after Daniil of Moscow. Is that enough to consider yourself a Muscovite? <...> I am writing to you from the pre-trial detention center. A significant number of detainees are students of Moscow universities. I study at Bauman Moscow State Technical University with a degree in engineering. Doesn't the country, the city, need engineers? Don't we need mechanical engineers? This is one of the eight priority areas in Russia. Then why was I denied a preventive measure in the form of a subscription? Is it economically unviable? <...> I live in a communal apartment, which is subject to exchange under the renovation program. Every day I do minor repairs in it, change windows, strengthen walls. Maybe you are ready to do this instead of me? <...> I urge you to have the courage to protect your citizens from the arbitrariness of the courts and law enforcement agencies
Earlier, on August 14, the Moscow City Court approved the arrests of other defendants in the case, Ivan Podkopaev, Sergei Abanichev, Samariddin Radjabov and Vladislav Barabanov.
