The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has launched a disciplinary case against the head coach of the Russian women's team Sergio Buzato. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the federation.
In early August, the South Korean Volleyball Federation complained to the FIVB about Buzato. After the qualifying match for the Olympics between Russia and South Korea, the coach stretched his eyelids with his fingers, depicting narrow eyes.
Buzato himself said that he did not consider the gesture offensive. According to him, this is how he celebrated the entry of the Russian team to the Olympics.
The All-Russian Volleyball Federation said they would apologize for the behavior of Sergio Buzato.
