The Teacher’s trade union urged teachers not to participate in the work of election commissions

The Council of the Trade Union "Teacher" appealed to teachers not to participate in the work of election commissions in the September elections to the Moscow City Duma. The trade union demanded the termination of criminal cases of “mass riots on July 27” and was indignant at the “massacre” during the dispersal of rallies and the prevention of opposition candidates for the elections.

“The elections to the Moscow City Duma in these conditions become obviously unlawful, and there are practically no chances in the city legislative body that we could trust,” the statement said. - We are teachers, our students look at us. We teach them to be citizens. We are ashamed to maintain triumphant lawlessness with our participation. In this situation, members of the Teacher’s trade union do not consider it possible for themselves to participate in the upcoming elections to the Moscow City Duma. We urge all teachers - members of election commissions - to think about how they will explain their participation in the elections imitation. ”

- How many teachers are ready to support your position?

- This statement is from thirteen people, but I can’t know how much it will support it. In such situations, teachers who refuse to work in areas usually do not declare their position. We do not hope that our statement will change the entire situation.

- Is it true that if teachers are not forced, then they will find other state employees?

- Maybe they will find it. I heard that social security workers specially gathered and held some meetings from United Russia. Something about the "bad opposition." We speak only on behalf of teachers. And of course, we are a small drop.

- You demand to terminate the criminal cases of "riots on July 27." Members of your trade union that day went out into the streets?

- I know that some members of our trade union participated in rallies. We do not consider this protests or, moreover, mass riots. There are no detainees from our teachers, otherwise they would have long been announced about themselves.

- Does voting in Russia make sense?

- So you can’t raise a question. Voting voting strife. For example, for municipal deputies in Moscow, it seems to me that the vote turned out reasonable, good candidates passed there. The phenomenon itself cannot be considered bad or good - it all depends on the balance of power. This is not to say that throughout Moscow it is impossible to vote now. We evaluate only these elections.

- How much do they pay for work on the site?

- We are talking about 4-5 thousand rubles. For a teacher, even Moscow, oddly enough, this is an amount. I heard the teachers say: "And what is it, I will earn extra money."

- In your statement it is said that you are ashamed to engage in falsifications. Why don't you use the word "crime"?

- The concept of “crime” is determined by the court. There was no court decision - there is no crime, it is on the one hand. On the other hand, more falsification will not be required. Why, if independent candidates are not allowed? This cannot be called elections. And actively support them, working in election commissions, is not a crime, but a mismatch to my idea of ​​a citizen. But the teacher must be a citizen.
