Ex-director of the clinic of Meshalkina pleaded guilty

The ex-director of the Novosibirsk clinic named after Meshalkin Alexander Karaskov, accused of fraud, left the pre-trial detention center. He was released under house arrest at the request of the investigation.

The Central District Court of Novosibirsk granted the investigation to change the preventive measure to the former director of the Research Institute of Circulatory Pathology (Meshalkin Clinic) Alexander Karaskov and his wife, deputy director of the institution Irina Bogatova. They left the pre -trial detention center under house arrest, TASS reports on August 21.

The last time the investigation asked for the extension of the arrest of Karaskov on August 6. Then the court left him in jail until November 19.

According to Kommersant-Siberia, the couple gave a confession.

In May 2019, Alexander Karaskov was fired from the post of director of the clinic of Meshalkin, whom he led for 20 years. At the May session of the Legislative Assembly, he resigned the powers of the deputy - he called the formal reason the house undeclared by mistake. The doctor headed the list of United Russia in the elections in 2015.

On Alexander Karaskov and his wife Irina Boytsov, the case was brought up under Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code (embezzlement) and part 5 of Art. 33, part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code (aiding in embezzlement). Karaskov himself against the backdrop of these events had a heart attack and he was brought to the courtroom from the hospital. His defense published an open letter to President PF Vladimir Putin. He said the "actual raider seizure of the center, in order to control financial budget flows."

The Karaskov case was united with the case of his former deputy, the famous surgeon Yevgeny Kudshalov. He is also under house arrest.
