
The Moscow City Court left under the arrest of the defendant of the case of “riots” on the shares of July 27 Evgeny Kovalenko, accused under Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (the application of violence against a representative of the authorities). Lawyer Mansur Gilmanov said that Kovalenko did not plead guilty and did not sign a confession, as the lawyer for their appointment stated. Kovalenko himself also said that he would not admit guilt.
“The court of first instance had no reason to send Kovalenko to custody. The only reason is political motives and intimidation of society. If this was not a political affair, my client would now be under the subscription about the lower room or house arrest, ”Gilmanov said.
Kovalenko said that he pulled the police from the protesters, because "he could not calmly look at how people were cruelly beaten." “I did not expect that I would behave like that and that the peaceful rally would be like that. The detentions were in a harsh form. I saw a piece of the club bounced off the protester. I could not calmly put up with this. My actions were dictated by a shock situation, ”Kovalenko said.
At the meeting, Mother Kovalenko Alla was also interrogated. She stated that her son worked from the very end of the institute, and he is very law -abiding. “He has a summer house, he bred rabbits and ducks. I helped him. I never got into the police, did not drink, did not smoke, ”she said.
Earlier, on July 29, the bourgeois court arrested Kovalenko for two months. According to investigators, at a rally on July 27, Kovalenko threw a garbage tank at a police officer. The criminal case against him was allocated to separate proceedings and transferred to the court for consideration on the merits.
On July 27, an inconsistent action was held in Moscow in support of unregistered candidates for deputies of the Moscow City Duma. According to the OVD-Info, at least 1373 people were detained on it. After the action, the police opened a criminal case of "riots", according to which 13 people have already been arrested .
