The Simonovsky court rejected the request to extend the arrest of politician Alexei Navalny

The Simonovsky District Court did not extend the administrative arrest of the politician Alexei Navalny. This is reported by the publication "Mediazona" in a text broadcast from the courtroom.

Dmitry Tomozov, the head of special detention center No. 1, where Navalny was serving an administrative arrest under part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (repeated violation of the rules for holding a mass event), requested an extension of the arrest for the time he spent in the hospital (18 hours). The judge denied this request.

Updated. The petition stated that Navalny had his administrative arrest suspended while he was in the hospital. Navalny's defense refuted this argument, since, firstly, he was not notified of the suspension, and secondly, Navalny was accompanied by police officers all this time, he was not free.

Alexei Navalny is due to leave the detention center on August 23 at 8:50.
