The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sentenced HSE student Artem Tyurin to 8 days of arrest for participating in a one-man picket in support of Yegor Zhukov. This was reported by the telegram channel of the “Apology of Protest” project.
The court found Tyurin guilty of organizing a “group picket” (Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code) on August 5 near the building of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. At 38 Petrovka, Tyurin and other HSE students held a series of single pickets in support of Yegor Zhukov, who was charged under Part 2 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code (participation in mass riots) in connection with the protests on July 27 in Moscow. The police interpreted the passing of posters from hand to hand as a sufficient reason for arrest.
The Tver court also decided to destroy the posters confiscated from Tyurin. “Apology” clarifies that the court does not have such powers.
