Requirements for the quality of copper wire

Soft and hard copper wire must meet certain quality requirements defined by GOST 16130-90. This state standard regulates the thickness, curvature, defectiveness and other parameters of copper wire.

Surface

Only small irregularities are allowed on the surface of the wire, which do not lead to the diameter of the product exceeding the limits specified by GOST. Products are considered defective if the following defects are found on their surface:

• Rolling captivity.
• Rolling cracks.
• Fractures.
• Sunsets.
• Risks.

The color of the wire should quickly be natural, without changes. Slight darkening, redness, discoloration, as well as traces of technological lubricant are possible.

It is not allowed to store and transport wire with different material conditions, different alloys and different characteristics in the same batch. Quality control is carried out using the “blind” selection method in accordance with GOST 18321.

Storage

Sharp bends and entanglement of the wire during storage are not allowed. Types of packaging for storage and transportation:

• Winding on drums, coils, cores.
• Skeins.

Wire should always be laid in even rows and bundled to prevent tangling.

Tying several pieces of wire into one coil, drum, core, or coil is not allowed. Only whole pieces of products are stored together. Resistance welding is possible subject to the requirements of GOST 16130-90.

Each individual package of wire (coil, drum, etc.) must have a metal or plywood label. Labels are attached to the reels. They contain the following information:

• Technical control mark or stamp.
• Batch number.
• Symbol of products.
• Name, trademark.

Package

Each skein is tied with wire in parallel in two places. Only skeins from one batch can be knitted into coils. The coils are tied with wire in three places. They are then wrapped in non-woven material and once again fastened with wire in three places. The choice of material can be agreed upon with the buyer. But cotton and linen fabrics cannot be used.

The transport item must not weigh more than 80 kg. Can be shipped in universal containers with packing slips.
