The court in Lipetsk dismissed the criminal case of insulting a deputy prosecutor

The Lipetsk District Court dismissed the criminal case under article 319 of the Criminal Code on insulting a representative of the authorities against Dmitry Pashinov, a journalist with the Pravda newspaper. The journalist himself announced this to OVD-Info. The journalist is being defended by a lawyer from OVD-Info, Yulia Zatonskaya.

The case was dismissed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for prosecution. This decision was made by Judge Svetlana Korobeynikova following the consideration of the appeal against the verdict in the criminal case.

Pashinov said that he plans to appeal the decision and seek acquittal, because he considers himself innocent and the case is falsified. As the journalist said, during the meeting, the judge rejected all the motions of the defense.

• On May 23, the court found Dmitry Pashinov guilty under the article on insulting a government representative (Article 319 of the Criminal Code) and fined him 30,000 rubles. However, the journalist was released from punishment due to the fact that he spent 13 days in a pre-trial detention center.
• The case of insulting a representative of the authorities arose as a result of a conflict between Pashinov and Andrei Pazhetnykh, deputy prosecutor of the Dobrovsky district of the Lipetsk region. Pashinov believes that the reason for the persecution is that he had previously repeatedly appealed to the prosecutor's office with complaints about the actions and inaction of the Pagetnys.

The journalist said that he came to Pagetnykh to get acquainted with the results of the check on his application. The deputy prosecutor replied that he would do it later, since he had to leave, and kicked the journalist out, squeezing his hand in the door. Then Pashinov called the police, but the prosecutor said that he had insulted him, and wrote a statement about it.
