The investigation seized from the Higher School of Economics the personal file and term papers of Yegor Zhukov, a defendant in the July 27 “mass riots” case. This was written by his lawyer Ilya Novikov on his Facebook page.
- Video blogger and HSE student Yegor Zhukov is one of 13 participants in the rally on July 27, who are accused under the article on participation in mass riots (part 2 of article 212 of the Criminal Code). Four of them - Yevgeny Kovalenko, Kirill Zhukov, Danil Beglets and Ivan Podkopaev - are separately charged with the use of violence against government officials.
- In Moscow, mass protests have been going on for more than a month for the admission of independent candidates to the elections to the Moscow City Duma. At the rallies on July 27 (1373 detainees) and August 3 (1001 detainees) law enforcement officers severely detained and beat people who went out into the street.
