In Arkhangelsk, a court fined an activist twice for one protest

In Arkhangelsk, eco-activist Vladislav Sivkov was asked to plead guilty to throwing a Molotov cocktail at the door of the local administration in the spring of 2018. He refused, after which he was fined 315,000 rubles for participating in an uncoordinated rally in the spring of 2019. This is reported by the publication "29.ru".

According to Sivkov, he was detained at a branch of Sberbank: an employee of the office asked a colleague to wait, but instead of a specialist, an employee of the Center “E” approached, who suggested that the activist admit guilt for setting fire to the administration. Investigators allegedly found fingerprints at the crime scene, and, pleading guilty, Sivkov will receive a minimal punishment.

Sivkov declared his innocence, after which he was taken to the police department, where protocols were drawn up for participation in the rally on April 7 under the article on repeated violation of the rules for holding events (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

The next day, the Oktyabrsky District Court found the activist guilty and fined him 155,000 rubles for participating in the rally and 160,000 rubles for the demonstration. Both events took place on the same day.

Sivkov's first violation was for participating in a rally against pension reform on September 9, 2018. The decision on this episode has already entered into force, which allowed the police to charge Sivkov with a "repeated violation."

• On April 7, during an uncoordinated rally, the police did not detain anyone. However, the protesters were soon detained. In total, about 40 people were fined. At the same time, some participants are fined separately for participating in an uncoordinated procession and an uncoordinated rally. According to 29.ru, the total amount of fines for participating in this action amounted to 1,701,400 rubles.
• In addition, participation in the rally on April 7 became the reason for initiating a criminal case against local activist Andrei Borovikov under the article on “repeated” violations of the rules for holding rallies (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code).
• Since August 2018, protests have been regularly held near the Shies station in the Arkhangelsk region, as well as in Arkhangelsk itself and in Syktyvkar. Local residents oppose the construction of a landfill for municipal solid waste, where, according to plans, Moscow garbage should be taken out.
